High Radon Levels in Home Basement Raise Health Concerns for Family

The homeowner works in medicine and is highly focused on the health and safety of her family, especially with children regularly playing in the basement. She has lived in the home for four years and recently began tracking radon with an electronic monitor. Over the past month, radon levels have averaged around 18 pCi/L, which is well above the EPA action level. This has increased urgency to install a radon mitigation system to lower levels and protect long-term health. Reducing radon is a priority to create a safer basement environment and improve overall indoor air quality for the entire family.

Radon Mitigation - Armstrong, IA

This client's reason why he decided to get a radon mitigation system installed in his home was really sad but we always believe we need to move forward. He lost his wife last year and would like to consider selling his home. Part of the reason to sell a home quickly is it should have a radon mitigation system. So he made the decision as early as today so he would no longer worry when the time comes that he is fully decided in the future. We made sure the installation and process were easy for him.

Three-Point Radon Mitigation System for Farmhouse with Levels Near 40

This project requires a three-point radon mitigation system due to extremely high radon levels nearing 40 pCi/L. The basement is divided into two concrete chambers separated by a brick wall, plus a large crawl space of roughly 900 sq ft, making multi-point extraction necessary for effective radon reduction. Fan exit is planned at the back corner of the home. Routing can be flexible, but keeping runs on one side of the house is recommended for efficiency. Existing wall gaps, rim joist openings, and pipe penetrations can be used to assist routing. Crawl space access is tight and requires full navigation around the ductwork. Homeowner recently purchased the family farmhouse and wants long-term radon mitigation and indoor air quality protection.

ERV Installation - Burt, IA

Radon Mitigation and ERV Installation for Farm Home With Exposed Soil and Odor Issues

This farm property was referred to us after a local radon company couldn’t take on the project. The homeowners already mailed their check to our Nebraska office and installation is set for December 2nd. With radon concerns, basement odors, and exposed soil under the stairs, the home needs a strong, well-planned solution. We’re installing a two-point mitigation system: one extraction point on the old basement side near the stairs and a second through the wall into the new addition, exiting out the back. An ERV will boost fresh air and improve radon reduction, especially with unknown footer locations and old drill holes from past pressure testing.

Radon Mitigation and Indoor Air Quality Improvements for Home Sale and Health Relief

Paul is a widower living with cerebral palsy and has ongoing indoor air quality concerns. He has already invested nearly $15,000 in solutions including an electronic air filter, UV light, regular duct cleaning, and multiple air purifiers throughout the home. Despite these efforts, he is still looking for meaningful relief and better overall air quality. He may also be preparing to sell the home, making radon mitigation an important step for both health and resale value. The plan is a straightforward single-point radon system, exiting on the northwest corner with fan placement and exhaust on the back or north side of the home to reduce radon levels and support a healthier living environment.
